Stress and Indigestion

We live in a busy society and it does not seem that it will ever slow down. This pace has its positives and negatives. In terms of the positive aspects, a busy person on the go will generally get more results than a person who is seemingly lethargic. A person with a lot of get up and go can get a great deal more done in the workforce and this can lead to career advancement, increased salary and prestige and, additionally, the potential of getting a bad case of indigestion can result as well. No, that last part was not a joke! When a person lives a busy and hectic lifestyle the potential for acquiring a really bad bout of indigestion has a high potential of occurrence.

The Nature of Work, Stress and its Effect on the Human Body

While a poor diet is often a factor of inducing indigestion (among a host of other problems), stress and aggravation can also yield the condition as well. Work, of course, can be a significant source of stress and aggravation and this includes such jobs that may be overall rewarding. Now, that may seem like an obtuse concept as a job or profession that one enjoys should not be a source of aggravation as the job is overall enjoyable. In order to understand how such a job creates stress induced indigestion, the answer may lie in the up and down nature of the job. That is, there may be periods of difficulty, overwork, long hours, etc. In such a situation, even if the end result of the hard work and long hours is a positive ending, if the journey to arrive at the end result is discomforting there may be physical ailments that ultimately result.

Sometimes Slowing Down is the Best Cure

While it is understandable that the harder one works, the greater the rewards the person will receive what also has to be understood is the fact that overwork can have a negligible effect on the body. Sadly, many people ignore the warning signs of overwork and this gets them into a great deal of trouble. Case in point, there are a huge volume of avoidable instances of the onset of indigestion that derive from a frantic work pace. The way to deal with this is obvious: a person who is overworked needs to take specific steps to reduce the volume of the workload. Granted, this is easier said than done, but if one’s health is deteriorating due to overwork, then whatever benefits derived from the work experience will be not worth it in the end.
